Reboots, especially those that emerged from series that inspire such iconic and passionate fan bases as Gossip Girl, tend to fail their new casts simply by proxy of unfair comparisons. "It will never be like the original," yell the naysayers and cynics determined to kill subsequent guilds before they even gain a foothold. "Why bother at all?" No, the upcoming reboot of Gossip Girl, which will premiere on HBO Max next year, is already looking very different from the original CW teen drama. What is so great is the show’s original costume designer, Eric Daman, has returned for the show’s revival. Much like any spin-off from a well-loved series, many Gossip Girl fans were skeptical at first but bringing back such an important part of the original, die-hard fans can rest assured Daman will resurrect the style of everybody’s favourite teen drama at its very finest. Daman told Teen Vogue in true Constance Billard School style. She is thrilled to be a part of the new GG Generation! It has been incredible to see the youth of today discovering and bingeing GG during these times!! Very excited to delight and inspire all of the GG Fans, new and OG, with some delicious, trendsetting fashions for this new era!

Also Kristen Bell is returning to narrate the show, although the idea of the Gossip Girl blog has been updated for the current climate. With Gossip Girl’s identity being revealed at the end of the original seasons, the voice of Gossip Girl will now be all of us. “It didn't really feel like a group of adults who were being controlled by Gossip Girl would make a lot of sense," said the shows creator Josh Schwartz during a TCA panel in 2019, "So it felt like there was something really interesting about this idea that we are all Gossip Girl now, in our own way, that we are all purveyors of our own social media surveillance state, and how that's evolved, and how that has morphed and mutated and telling that story through a new generation of upper east side high school kids felt like the right time. Farewell to the prep and headbands of Blair Waldorf's wardrobe and the boho chic and edges of Serena van der Woodsen's closet. A new breed of style icon is being erected in their place much more representative of the fashion scene in the age of Instagram and Depop and their boots cost less than $250.

Jordan Alexander, one of the new leading actresses in the next chapter, was captured on the set in paparazzi photos. She was wearing a fresh take on the Upper East Side uniform: black biker shorts, a pinstripe button-down, a loose navy tie, a red Fendi baguette, gold jewelry, and - the kicker - white knee-high leather boots from Schutz. In other paparazzi shots from the show’s set in New York, new cast members Eli Brown and Whitney Peak can be seen exiting a building in the rain with Brown sharing his corduroy jacket to put over the shoulders of Peak’s sparkling silver mini dress, could this be the first romance of the new series.

The leather boots in particular with their kitten heels, pointy toes, and crocodile-embossed cowhide add a modern twist to the memorable classic aesthetic of the show. While we might not really imagine B and S walking around in them, the boots exude magnetism for those kind of cool New  York City girls who can be seen at Fashion Week or at the top of our Instagram Explore pages  because who else would have this kind of confidence to combine statement heels with biker shorts. Only time will tell where they want us to go.While we wait for the new range to premiere, you can buy the boots below, also available in black. You might like it too.
