Johnnie Walker’s 200th anniversary milestone Celebration

The world’s best-selling Scotch whisky brand recently celebrated its 200th anniversary of brewing. And one of the ways they decided to commemorate this milestone was by bringing the fashion world an exclusive clothing line with South Africa designer Rich Munisi. This clothing line was not only meant to show how far the brand has come, but to also showcase what the future of the brand looks like as well.

The anniversary celebration of the alcohol brand took place on the 13th of May and was held in Sandton, a South African based city. The first pop-up store took place on Thursday the 13th at Mandela Square and was introduced through a limited edition capsule collection that had been set to launch in May. This collection consisted of classic wardrobe features such as the bomber jackets, jumpsuits, t-shirts and a line-up of accessories that the consumers can include in their collections as South Africa enters their fall season.

This legendary collaboration was not meant to just celebrate its 200th anniversary, but rather it came at the height of Johnnie Walker’s newly formed brand concept. This concept aims at inspiring and encouraging their consumers to be fearless within the hunt for the taste and experience that the richness of life has to offer, through the act of living a lot and going further than their boundaries. This is an extension of the brand's “Keep Walking” mantra.

In an article written for South Africa’s Witness News titled “Johnnie Walker celebrates 200th birthday with Fashion and Philanthropy” the brand ambassador for Johnnie Walker told EyeWitness news that “To celebrate 200 years of Johnnie Walker, we wanted to commemorate the milestone with our consumers as they are huge part of our story so the concept store was a great way for us give consumers an exclusive experience of the new world of Johnnie Walker”

Attendants at the event took to their twitter to give us an inside look at some of the pieces showcased as well as the decor of the venue. The proceeds generated by this collaboration are set to be donated to charity as the brand believes in giving back, and consumers can be happy to know that they are not only purchasing an iconic fashion item to add to their wardrobe, but they are also helping to give to charity along the way.

And while this might not be the first time the brand has released a collection, this certainly is the most noteworthy one as it celebrates the brands biggest milestone to date. Johnnie Walker has yet to decide on the next dates and locations for a future pop-up store, the brand is certain that even after its 200th anniversary, it will continue to have a bright future.
