Model Monday: ShaTerrica

ShaTerrica Hyder, features as a newly signed fashion and commercial model with Fenton Modeling Agency in NYC. Originally from Texas ShaTerrica spoke with us about her goals since moving to the city of dreams, NYC, and being more than just a model.

Despite the size and popularity of a  city like Dallas, aside from the network and appeal of pagentry, fashion(let alone high fashion) falls as a secondary option in the model and creative market. However, Unlike many aspiring models ShaTerrica moved to New York with confirmation of becoming a signed agency model on arrival, referring to her experience that "being a signed model has offered me more consistency since moving to NY", and is already heading to London for new work with just being in New York and signed slightly over a year to date.

" I'm surviving as a model, and it's an important and great industry, but I want more than just working to post on Instagram ". With in a year ShaTerrica already has been booked to shoot for brands like Mac, Nars, Bareminerals

, Ozwald boateng, and walking for the likes of Makio (a Nigerian fashion designer) and the rising popular Fashion Brand Studio 189 at this seasons September NYFW. From print ads to runway apperances ShaTerrica also expressed her desires for working and experiencing acting as well as to work and express herself more as a multi-talent in writer & singing.

" Money comes and goes, I want to actually create something more personal and Organic, not just content ".

Q : With your experience, would You suggest having an agency I today's modern era ?

A : "Being a signed model has offered me more consistency since moving to NY" , "If you don't have a platform you need an agent. If you do it's a little different. "

Q : What advice would you give to an aspiring model

A: Ask questions, if you see someone doing what you want to do, reach out

- reach out to agencies, open your mouth reach out. Ask a questions to anybody. Of course you will find people who don't want to give the keys away but don't let that stop you.

- know your market and what market you want to go into cause each market is different. Don't be discouraged cause the tradional model of a model is changing.

Q: What's a campaign & show you really want to book

A : I want to do swim week & I want to shoot for sports illustrated. Those are my immediate goals
