A world renowned choreographer Goebel is the mastermind behind some of your favorite pop culture moments, and now she is ready to tackle another industry. The 29 year old New Zealand native launched her new unisex fashion label called Runaway Motel. Using a vibrant color scheme with an ode to retro aesthetic, the collection of activewear is tailored to everyone. The first drop named “Room 407” will have a feature of 47 limited edition pieces that will blend comfort with luxury. Goebel spoke in an interview about the intentions and inspiration that led to the clothing line and why it will make buyers feel empowered, bold, and Bossy.
Brainstorming themes Goebel's ideas were to create a destination for dreamers. And there came the birth of Runway Motel which she described as an “aha” moment. Wanting to incorporate something new Goebel felt like as a dancer, business woman, and a person that travels often there were no brands which supported the lifestyles herself and many others who have a career that requires constant travels. Using that as her mission Goebel was determined to create a versatile and comfortable collection that were fit for any journey. Whether that being going to the gym, on the run to a meeting, or even dinner out with friends. With a collection designed for any and everyone Goebel believed that it was essential to offer quality and comfort for all shapes and sizes, making anyone who wears any of the pieces to develop a sense of confidence.
Inspired by Goebels busy lifestyle Goebel states that she wears the collection everyday. No matter what her days may look like, Runway Motel is essential, though she is the brand creator her designs inspire her to do more, and also strive for what she wants. Being someone who constantly does several things in a day Goebel is proud of being able to create a clothing line which supports and uplifts anyone who wears it.
Describing the marketing behind the brand Goebel mentioned that the inspiration behind the creative direction was pushing the envelope and the stereotype of activewear. Describing active as more than going to the gym and working out, the designer saw it as a lifestyle. Being that we are in a world of so many opportunities and more now more than ever we are breaking the rules and creating our own career paths. Always on the run and constantly challenging herself, Goebel believes that activewear should support all the everspiences that you have in a day and all the dreams that are running wild in your mind.
Goebel felt that having a story behind the clothing is more than a concept but instead it is a message. That Runway Motel is here to empower, work, and play because that is what life is all about.
